Report: MU's Nestor to take Navy job
Kansas City Star
Missouri basketball assistant Ernie Nestor is expected to take a similar position at Navy, the Capital Gazette of Annapolis, Md., reported Thursday.
Nestor was hired by Frank Haith soon after Haith was announced as the Tigers’ head coach last season. They had worked together as assistant coaches at Wake Forest, and one of Nestor’s head coaching stops had been at Elon, Haith’s alma mater.
Nestor, 65, will be entering a rebuilding task at Navy. The Midshipmen are coming off a 3-26 season, including 0-14 in the Patriot League. At Annapolis, he'll be reunited with head caoch Ed DeChellis. Nestor served as director of basketball operations at Penn State under DeChellis during the 2010-11 season.
In Nestor’s only season in Columbia, Mizzou went 30-5 and spent much of the season ranked in the top ten. Nestor worked with the Tigers' big men and was credited with helping improve Ricardo Ratliffe, who averaged 13.9 points and 7.5 rebounds last season.
