Former Kansas quarterback Brock Berglund said Wednesday that will play at Scottdale Community College this fall.

"It's been a long process, but that's the decision," Berglund said. "I'm going to play there for the one season."

Then the plan is to resume his career at a Division I program. Berglund was on last season's football roster at Kansas but didn't play. During the season, he remained home at Colorado while fighting an assault charge, which eventually was dropped, while taking classes online.

When Charlie Weis was hired, Berglund requested a release from his scholarship. Originally, Berglund was denied by Weis, which meant the quarterback couldn't receive a scholarship immediately at his next school. But Berglund won an appeal.

Berglund was in contact with several schools. He said he visited schools on both coasts but he wound up two credit hours short of being able to transfer directly to a four-year program and receive a scholarship.

"It's frustrating," Berglund said. "But I've moved on to greener pastures. I'm excited to play football this fall and move on with my life. I'm optimistic about what the future holds."
