The Kansas football program picked another commitment this week from Dallas cornerback Colin Spencer, who confirmed the decision on his Twitter account. 

Spencer is a 5-10, 170-pound defensive back who has a 4.42 time in the 40-yard dash. He also made six interceptions during his junior year at Dallas-Woodrow Wilson. According to Rivals.com, Spencer had also drawn interest form TCU, Arkansas, Texas A&M, Tulsa, Louisiana Tech and SMU, but KU was his first offer.

Kansas now has five commitments in its 2013 recruiting class: Bishop Miege quarterback Montell Cozart; Shawnee Mission East quarterback Jordan Darling; Basehor-Linwood tight end Ben Johnson; and St. Louis linebacker Kellen Ash.

KU football sets grade mark

This was in the newspaper on Wednesday morning, but here’s one note that you may have missed.

KU football coach Charlie Weis can mark one thing off his first-year checklist. The KU football team set a new program mark with by notching a cumulative 3.0 grade-point average as a teamduring the spring semester. According to Weis, it was up from a 2.46 GPA in the fall. The previous high was 2.75 in spring 2010, and the entire KU athletics department earned an overall GPA of 2.99, the fourth-highest in history.
