If it’s true that coaches’ sons are fundamentally sound, then KU should have one of the best-coached scout teams around.
Tyler Self, a 6-foot-2 guard, joins a cast of walk-ons that includes freshman guard Evan Manning, son of former KU assistant Danny Manning, and junior guard Niko Roberts, son of KU assistant Norm Roberts.
Tyler Self, who graduated from Lawrence Free State, was a contributor on a team that finished 7-14 in the Sunflower League in 2011-12.
He is also a former high school teammate of Manning, who graduated from Free State in 2011 before spending a year at a prep school in New Hampshire. Tyler Self's older sister, Lauren, will also be a senior at KU this year.
