Trouble in the basement

There’s trouble in the basement now,

So down the stairs I came;

Appliances had caused a fuss,

But which was most to blame?

The furnace huffed, the dryer puffed,

Yet neither seemed at fault;

The water heater? Silent, as

If all had come to halt.

With list of suspects down to one,

I knew the instigator,

And, glaring at the washer, said,

“So you’re the agitator!”
