Sprint CEO Dan Hesse will follow the example of past Sprint CEOs by leading this years United Way of Greater Kansas City fundraising campaign.
I dont think I have ever seen a company more dedicated to a community than Sprint is to Kansas City, said Hesse, who last year served as the chairman of the campaigns Big 12 division that includes companies conducting the areas largest United Way campaigns. This community-mindedness has been passed down from Paul Henson to Bill Esrey to Gary Forsee and now to me. Sprints people are committed to the health of the communities we live in and serve.Sprint has donated nearly $25 million to United Way over the past 15 years.Hesse is joined by one of last years co-chairmen, Jay Lind, financial secretary/treasurer for Sheet Metal Workers Union, Local No. 2, who has taken on the challenge again. The more I learn about United Way and the many programs it supports and how they are helping people, the more I appreciate the value of United Way, Lind said in a statement Tuesday. People stepped up to meet the challenge by supporting United Way last year, and Im confident they will do so again this year. This years campaign begins Sept. 11 and wraps up on Nov. 15.
