All present and accounted for.

Left-handed reliever Jose Mijares reported Monday to the Royals’ spring complex, which means all 30 pitchers and six catchers on the camp roster should be in uniform Tuesday when the club conducts its first official workout.

Mijares, 27, was the last arrival after working through visa issues in his native Venezuela.

Virtually all of the roster’s 21 infielders and outfielders are also in camp, although the first full-squad workout isn’t until Saturday.

The pitchers and catchers are scheduled for physical examinations Tuesday morning and aren’t expected to take the field before noon Mountain time. Workouts typically start around 10 a.m.

Lamb progressing

Left-hander John Lamb, one of the organization’s top pitching prospects, is in camp and taking part in light throwing exercises as the latest step in his recovery from reconstructive elbow surgery — commonly known as Tommy John surgery.

Lamb, 21, underwent the procedure last June. His tentative timetable calls for him to return to the mound in July in extended spring training with the hope that he can pitch competitively over the final month of the minor-league season.

Baseball America recently cited Lamb as the organization’s No. 6 prospect despite the injury. He is 16-12 with a 2.86 ERA in 50 starts over three seasons since his selection in the fifth round of the 2008 draft.

Looking back

It was 43 years ago Tuesday — Feb. 21, 1969 — that the Royals conducted the first spring workout in franchise history. Forty-six players took part in drills in Fort Myers, Fla.
