Clyde McQueen, president and chief executive of the Full Employment Council, has been elected president of the U.S. Conference of Mayors Workforce Development Council.
The one-year term allows McQueen to lead a national examination of workforce development issues. The council is particularly focused on helping workers who have particular barriers, such as poverty, disability or youth, that make it difficult to get jobs.McQueen said he expects to emphasize job-training programs and partnerships between community colleges and businesses.-- Diane Stafford, stafford@kcstar.com
