MANHATTAN | The game lived up to expectations.

With No. 4 Baylor coming to Bramlage Coliseum sporting an undefeated record and No. 18 Kansas State fresh off an easy victory over previously unbeaten Missouri, everyone wanted to know which of these two teams would head into the second weekend of Big 12 play with momentum.

The Bears earned that distinction with a 75-73 victory, but it didn’t come easy. After more than 39 minutes of back-and-forth basketball, Baylor had to survive two last-second chances from K-State. With 20.9 seconds remaining, K-State called a timeout to line up for a game-winning shot. But with the Bears heavily guarding Rodney McGruder, who scored 30 points, Angel Rodriguez had the ball stripped away while trying to attack the basket.

The ball rolled out of bounds, and K-State maintained possession with 3.5 seconds remaining. But the Bears tipped away the ensuing inbounds pass and the game ended with McGruder holding the ball with a frustrated look on his face.

With the loss, K-State dropped to 12-4 overall and 1-2 in conference play. It will next play at Oklahoma on Saturday. Oklahoma improved to 16-0 and 3-0.
