Four executives are leaving Sprint Nextel Corp. next month in a marketing and sales reorganization that reflects the blurring lines between personal and work cellphones.

Sprint is combining consumer and business sales effort under Paget Alves, chief sales officer, and consumer and business marketing under Bill Malloy, chief marketing officer.
“We believe that we no longer need to support two separate business units (consumer and business) and that it is more logical now to evolve to unified marketing and sales organizations,” said a memo to Sprint employees.
The memo noted that a large number of Sprint customers get a corporate discount under a Sprint business contract but are individually liable for paying the bill and buy services like any other consumer.
Also, the same cellphone features also are increasingly favored by consumers and in the workplace, said Scott Sloat, a Sprint spokesman.
“Now it’s hard to tell what a consumer device is and what a business device is,” Sloat said.
Bob H. Johnson, president of Sprint’s consumer services group, and John Carney, senior vice president of consumer marketing, are leaving, as are Danny Bowman, president of integrated solutions, and Chris Rogers, senior vice president of corporate development.
