Kansas State made its debut in a major basketball poll this week when the Wildcats were ranked 25th in the USA Today/ESPN coaches' poll.
Missouri held firm at No. 8, Kansas fell seven spots to 18th.In the Associated Press poll, the Tigers are No. 8, moving up one spot from last week. Kansas is No. 17, dropping five, and Kansas State was the first team outside of the top 25.Since suffering their only loss of the season, a double-overtime heartbreaker against West Virginia, the Wildcats, 10-1, have won five straight. Sunday night, they completed a three-game sweep to capture the Diamond Head Classic, and before that beat Alabama in Kansas City.The Tigers, 12-0, off to their best start since 1981-82, are coming off their most hard-fought victory of the season, 78-74 over Illinois at St. Louis.Kansas, 8-3, fell after losing to Davidson in Kansas City last week.
