Police officer’s stolen gun, gear still missing

Updated: 2011-11-29T16:15:58Z

Gear taken from an Olathe police officer’s home near Spring Hill sometime last week is still missing.

Olathe police shirts, a pair of handcuffs and a gun were stolen between Nov. 18 and 24 while the officer was out of town. Nothing else was reported missing from the home, Sheriff’s Deputy Tom Erickson said.

The sheriff’s department is conducting interviews but has no suspects, a news release stated.

The department urged the public to ask for an officer’s official identification if they question an officer’s authenticity. Anyone with information should call the Sheriff’s office, 913-715-5560, or the TIPS hotline, 816-474-TIPS.
