University of Missouri Chancellor Brady Deaton has delayed his overseas trip to India as he decides whether the school should leave the Big 12.
Deaton was scheduled to leave Tuesday for a nine-day international conference in India. But MU spokeswoman Mary Jo Banken told the Associated Press on Monday that the chancellor won't go so he can deal with other duties in his office that are more important. Later, Deaton's administrative assistant told The Star that Deaton has delayed but not cancelled his trip.Missouri is mulling a move to the Southeastern Conference. University curators gave Deaton authority Oct. 21 to leave the Big 12 and negotiate contracts with conferences.The SEC web site last week mistakenly posted an announcement that Missouri was joining the league.
