All-Star Game logo revealed
Royals officials unveiled the logo for next summer’s All-Star Game during a pre-game ceremony Tuesday before the first game of a six-game homestand.

Major League Baseball executive vice president for business Tim Brosnan, Kansas City mayor Sly James and Jackson County executive Mike Sanders also were on hand for the ceremony along with Royals president Dan Glass.

Glass shared his memories of attending the 1973 All-Star Game at what was then called Royals Stadium, the last time the exhibition was played in Kansas City.

“It made an impact on me I will always remember,” Glass said. “Now, there will be people from all over the world. I hope they walk away with a wonderful memory of Kansas City’s spirit.”

The first MLB All-Star Game in the city’s history was played in 1960 at Municipal Stadium, but this one promises to be the most extravagant by a long shot.

“I feel real good about Kansas City and I hope you do too,” said James, who indicated that downtown will serve as the hub for All-Star FanFest. “And finally, one last thing: Go big or go home.”

The logo will adorn the Hall of Fame in left field leading up to the 83rd All-Star Game, which will air July 10 on Fox.

Tickets for the game, which are distributed through Major League Baseball, won’t go on sale until sometime next year.
