Toyota boosts Prius supply in U.S.
By Bloomberg News
Toyota Motor Corp. confirmed that its U.S. dealers will get at least 36,000 Prius hybrids for the summer sales season as the carmaker boosts supplies for the vehicle in its biggest market.
Toyota said last month it secured supply of at least 36,000 units of the Japan-built hatchback to be sold from June through August, and has verified that volume, Steve Curtis, a company spokesman, said Wednesday.
The carmaker said earlier in the day that U.S. dealers would get at least 75,000 units of Prius in the second half of 2011. The company later retracted that release.
