Sporting Kansas City will host a U.S. Open Cup game at Livestrong Sporting Park on June 28. Sporting's opponent will be either the Chicago Fire PDL or Madison 56ers. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Chicago and Madison (Wisc.) play in the Premier Developmental League and National Premier Soccer League, respectively.

KC is one of eight MLS teams to enter the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup in the third round.

• The other news that swirled around Sporting Kansas City was a report out of Mexico that said the club Atlas was taking a look at winger Ryan Smith. The news sprang from Atlas' acquisition of the Chicago Fire's Uruguayan forward Gaston Puerari.

This was combined with the curious case of Smith's disappearing Twitter page. Yes, this is what passes for a development these days. Craig Rocastle's Twitter page has also vanished for the record.

Thad Bell of the Back Post said on Twitter that the Smith rumors aren't true -- and Thad's extremely trust-worthy on these matters. I'll be out at training tomorrow, if I get a chance, I'll see why Ryan (and Craig) are no longer on Twitter. And, you know, if either are planning on going to Mexico soon.
