About 18,000 people seeking words of motivational wisdom slowed morning rush-hour traffic and jammed parking lots Tuesday in downtown Kansas City.
They came for a daylong seminar at the Sprint Center, which promised live and in person success and leadership advice from nearly a dozen national political, entertainment, business, military and sports figures. Early-bird reservations for just $1.95 a person or $9.95 for a whole office helped the Get Motivated Business Seminar pack the arena.The Kansas City lineup and their topics included:Former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani on perseverance; comedian Bill Cosby on success; religious leader Robert Schuller on inspiration; training expert Bob Harrison on sales and negotiation; Forbes Inc. CEO Steve Forbes on business skills; former Southwest Airlines CEO Howard Putnam on management; former NFL quarterback Joe Montana on teamwork; retired Army Gen. Stanley McChrystal on excellence; former Secretary of State Colin Powell on leadership; Americas Most Wanted TV show creator John Walsh on achievement; and a special guest, former first lady Laura Bush.
