Summer Camp Guide | Get ready for fun

Ah, the freedom of summer!

Oh, the boredom of summer.

Come some July day (or June, for that matter), your kids might not actually announce that they’re bored. After all, that’s like asking for chores or something.

But what if there were a fun alternative to the summer doldrums, something that might even be (gasp) educational? (And better yet, get them out of the house!)

That’s the purpose of FYI’s Summer Camp Guide. Inside you’ll find listings for artsy stuff (such as comedy camps at Martin City Melodrama), science and nature (like Kansas City Community Gardens camps), sports (such as Faulkner’s Ranch Pony Camp) and activities for special-needs children (like Camp Erin, for kids who’ve experienced the death of someone close to them).

In other words, something for just about every child — and just about every parent. Happy summer!

ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This year’s Summer Camp Guide is illustrated by students from three schools in the Raytown School District. Our thanks to all the participating kids as well as their art teachers: Angelique Hanning at Little Blue Elementary, Elizabeth Martin at Eastwood Hills Elementary and Janice Siegel at Fleetridge Elementary. Thanks also to the district’s Cathy Allie.
