What a mess: A break-in at Lindsay Lohan's house

Updated: 2009-05-13T06:16:56Z

Looks like someone tried to break into Lindsay Lohan's Hollywood Hills house Tuesday afternoon.

An alarm company notified police about 3 p.m. Tuesday that someone had tripped an alarm at the house. Lohan was in Europe at the time.

When authorities arrived, the mess inside the house prompted officers to ask, "Is it normally like this, or did the intruders do it?" said Los Angeles police officer Karen Rayner.

TMZ reported that there were pry marks on a back door and a window showed signs of tampering. "It was an attempted burglary," Rayner confirmed. "No property was taken and no one was home at the time of the incident."

A source told E! News that a "person of interest" in the case is a man who is said to have been stalking and making threats against Lohan.
