Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton is sorry today for calling Miss California a "dumb bitch."
Stargazing
Perez Hilton to Miss California: Sorry I called you a dumb bee-otch
April 20
But he was REALLY ticked off last night when, on live TV, to his face, Miss California, Carrie Prejean, said that marriage should be between a man and a woman.
Prejean said today that she believes her answer to Hilton's question cost her the crown. She finished second behind Miss North Carolina.
Did Prejean not recognize her questioner, the self-described "Queen of All Media" or something?
From one queen to another, here's how it went down:
Hilton: "Vermont recently became the fourth state to legalize same-sex marriage. Do you think every state should follow suit? Why or why not?"
Prejean: "I think it's great that Americans are able to choose one or the other. We live in a land that you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite marriage and, you know what, in my country and my family I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anyone out there but that's how I was raised and that's how I think it should be between a man and a woman."
Perez was so steamed that as soon as the pageant was over - Miss California lost, by the way - he went off on her on a video blog.
"She gave the worst answer in pageant history," he fumed. "She got booed. I think that was the first time in Miss USA EVER that a contestant has been booed.
"She lost not because she doesn't believe in gay marriage. Miss California lost because she's a dumb bitch."
But apparently Perez has slept on it, because now he's saying he'd love to take Miss California out for coffee and "talk."
Oh to be a fly on that wall.
Prejean spoke to "Access Hollywood" today about all the drama and stuck to her guns.
“I feel like I won. I feel like I’m the winner. I really do,” she said, noting that today she had 1,000 messages on Facebook and 2,000 friend requests.
She added that her answer "did cost me my crown. I wouldn’t have had it any other way. I said what I feel. I stated an opinion that was true to myself and that’s all I can do.
"It is a very touchy subject and he [Perez] is a homosexual and I see where he was coming from and I see the audience would’ve wanted me to be more politically correct. But I was raised in a way that you can never compromise your beliefs and your opinions for anything."
And who knew? She's apparently been in an on/off relationship with Michael Phelps?
“He is a great man,” she told the TV show. "We can talk about that a different day.”
