DES MOINES, Iowa | The Iowa State Fair is sticking it to pineapple and salad.

The fair is adding pineapple and salad to the food fairgoers can buy on a stick, adding to traditional favorites, such as corn dogs and the pork chop.

Also sticking with the tradition of deep frying its foods, the fair will slice, batter and fry the pineapple on a stick. The salad on a stick will be made up of an iceberg lettuce wedge with carrots and tomatoes served kabob-style with dressing.

Other new foods to be served up include a mini cinnamon rolls served warm, shrimp on a stick, Cajun chicken on a stick and a crawfish and vegetable stew served over rice.

The Iowa State Fair begins Thursday in Des Moines.
