A lack of mobility can make it difficult for seniors to shop for and cook their own meals. Decreased social interaction can make dining solo a lonely affair. Here are ways to avoid eating alone:

Join a senior center that offers meals and a chance to socialize.

Watch TV or a movie while you eat. It will make you feel like someone is with you.

Split the work and the cost of a meal by sharing with a friend. Join a cooking class that caters to cooking for one.

Offer a friend a ride to the supermarket or ask her to take public transportation with you. Then share a meal.
