More than three years after it closed, Westport mainstay The Corner Restaurant has been resurrected in the same spot but with new owners, a new decor and new menu. Executive chef Natasha Sears said the kitchen uses many local vendors, and makes about 90 percent of the menu from scratch on-site.
Oak Park Mall said it has signed local fast-casual chain Ingredient for its food court. Menu items include salads, grilled sandwiches, soups, wraps and panini, burgers, and gourmet pizzas.

Liang Dong Guo, who owns China Buffet in Olathe, is opening Pacific Buffet Sushi Steak & Grill with his son, Shengkai Guo. The first commercial collaboration between Boulevard Brewing Co. and Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. will hit store shelves in mid-June. It was so well received that the two companies decided to bring it back.

The quality assurance manager at Parisi Artisan Coffee won the U.S. Barista Championship in Boston in mid-April, earning an all-expenses-paid trip to the world matchup in Australia later this month. There he will represent the United States against coffee competitors from at least 50 countries.
James Beard award-winning chef Debbie Gold is back at the corner of 119th and Roe with another new restaurant concept — this one in Leawood. Gold was a founder of the famed 40 Sardines restaurant on the Overland before rejoining The American Restaurant in Crown Center. But she has been wooed back south, becoming the third partner in a new restaurant group called Red Door Restaurants.
The 2013 Kansas City Restaurant Week had a record-breaking season, including raising more than $150,000 for local charities. More than 126 restaurants also participated - the highest number in the event’s four year history. “We are proud just to see the tremendous growth and the participation by the community,” said Zach Doerfler, president of the Greater Kansas City Restaurant Association.

Boulevard Brewing Co. is rebranding its award-winning Boulevard Pilsner. The company announced that it is changing the name and packaging of its premium American lager, now to be called KC Pils and sold in the same bottle and packaging as the brewery’s other core beers.
