Power & Light District to add a nightclub

An art deco hotel-themed venue, fittingly called Hotel Nightclub, is coming to the Power & Light District.

Hotel Nightclub, at 1300 Grand Blvd., will have a spacious dance floor, a bar area, private booths and an outdoor patio. It is to open March 16 in a 5,000-square-foot space on the second level of the Kansas City Live Block, above Johnny’s Tavern.

Hotel Nightclub is owned by ECI Inc., which is affiliated with The Cordish Cos., the district’s developer.

Cordish opened a Hotel Nightclub in its Fourth Street Live district in Louisville, Ky., in 2007. But with the Kansas City venue, they brought in Studio Collective of Santa Monica, Calif., to do the conceptual design.

Parents, teach your kids the value of differences

I’ve recently found myself speaking at educational institutions about diversity as much as I talk to corporations and organizations. Speaking at schools reminds me that how people view and respond to the differences of others starts long before they enter the workforce.
