Three Kansas City-area high school football players — Gardner Edgerton running back Traevohn Wrench, Olathe South offensive lineman Braden Smith and Wyandotte quarterback Dimonic McKinzy — have been nominated to play in the 2014 U.S. Army All-American Bowl.

William Chrisman High School senior Nieka Wheeler is a basketball player who was featured in many scouting reports in the recently completed season. She led the Bears in scoring and rebounding, averaging 18.3 points and 10.1 rebounds per game.
