The Big 12 men's tournament, which begins a month from today at Sprint Center, contracts and expands at the same time. The event shrinks from 12 to 10 teams, but the first-round byes grows from four to six. What won't change is coaches' belief that teams with byes should get NCAA Tournaments bids, and this year, the conference could be strong enough to send a majority of its teams.

Clark Kellogg, calling today's Kansas-Texas game for CBS, was the analyst for the same matchup a year ago and remembered being swept up in the emotion. "What Thomas Robinson was working through that day, your heart just went out to him," Kellogg said. When the Jayhawks take on Texas today in Austin, Texas, it marks the one-year anniversary of the event that turned Robinson's world upside down.
