MU notes: Harrisonville’s Keck quits football team
Harrisonville’s Keck quitsMissouri has confirmed that Michael Keck, a former top national recruit from Harrisonville, has left the football team “for personal reasons.”
Keck, a 6-foot-4, 235-pound redshirt freshman, was listed Monday as second or third team at defensive end behind senior starter Tommy Chavis, with freshman Jacquies Smith, a 6-4, 240-pound true freshman.
Keck came to Missouri as a linebacker, graduating from high school a semester early so he could take part in spring football in 2007. A high school All-American, Super Prep rated Keck as the No. 11 weak-side linebacker in the national recruiting class.
Keck redshirted as a true freshman, had surgery to repair a pre-existing injury, and stood out in MU’s 2008 spring game, making nine tackles.
Keck played in his first game on Saturday, Missouri’s season-opening victory over Illinois, and was credited with one assisted tackle.
•More than 40,000 football season tickets have been sold, a record that easily surpasses the 34,878 for 2004. With a limited number of $280 six-game packages still available on either side of Memorial Stadium, the record continues to grow, according to school officials.
No. 6 Missouri opens the home season against Southeast Missouri State at 6 p.m. Saturday.
Single-game tickets are going quickly as well. Reserved seating for both the Oklahoma State (Oct. 11) and Colorado (Oct. 25) games are sold out, with general admission hillside and temporary bleacher seating (field level and North concourse) as the only available tickets.
What tickets are available can be ordered at www.mutigers.com, by calling 1-800-CAT-PAWS (884-PAWS in Columbia), or at the ticket office at Mizzou Arena.
