Smith two away from sack record
Funny thing to notice on a day of defensive failures, but Missouri sophomore defensive end Aldon Smith came up with another sack. He now has nine this season, two short of matching Justin Smith’s Missouri season record of 11.
•Missouri starting cornerback Carl Gettis did not play in the second half after being hurt on his own hard hit in the first half. MU officials did not provide information on the nature or extent of the injury. Safety Hardy Ricks, MU officials said, suffered a knee injury and spent the second half on crutches.
•With 13 catches for 214 yards on Saturday, MU senior Danario Alexander now has 71 catches for 1,038 yards. Texas’ Jordan Shipley caught 11 passes for 273 yards against Central Florida on Saturday and now has 75 catches for 1,050 yards.
Kansas’ Dezmon Briscoe finished Saturday with season totals of 61 catches for 917 yards and the Jayhawks’ Kerry Meier has 73 catches for 758 yards.
