Tigers QB Dalton pays fines for misdemeanors

More Sports:

Blaine Dalton had his day in Boone County court on Friday, and the Missouri freshman quarterback pleaded guilty to a charge of a minor in possession of a can of beer and two misdemeanor traffic violations.

No charges were filed on possession of prescription pills — which a friend later told police were his — discovered in Dalton’s car by Columbia police when the former Blue Springs South football star was pulled over for a traffic violation on April 30.

“We are fortunate to have a prosecuting attorney that will resolve charges based on the evidence presented to him,” said Dalton attorney Bogdan Susan, “without regard to any media or Internet rumor or speculation about favoritism for athletes.”

Susan said Dalton paid $387 in fines on the three charges for possessing an unopened can of beer, failure to stay on the right half of a roadway at all times and failure to register his car in Boone County.

On Tuesday, MU coach Gary Pinkel confirmed that Dalton’s initial suspension — the possession of the prescription pills belonging to someone else could have produced a felony charge — had been lifted.
