Tigers clinch title
Missouri has clinched the annual MU-KU Border War title for the 2007-08 season. Mizzou clinched this year’s cup when its women’s golf team finished higher than Kansas at the Big 12 championships last weekend in Stillwater, Okla. The golf results pushed MU’s running total to 21 points, compared with 13 points for Kansas.
The closest KU could get would be 21-19.
Wildcat pitcher is honored
Kansas State pitcher Brad Hutt was chosen Big 12 pitcher of the week. Hutt led the Wildcats to a 4-1 victory Saturday against Texas, K-State’s first home triumph against the Longhorns since March 22, 1998. Hutt pitched eight innings, allowed one earned run, scattered seven hits, walked one and struck out three.
KU’s Jackson signs with sports group
Kansas senior forward Darnell Jackson took the first step toward a professional basketball career, signing with the San Antonio-based Montgomery Sports Group. The group also manages the contracts of Desmond Mason (Milwaukee Bucks), Maurice Evans (Orlando Magic) and brothers Joey Graham (Toronto Raptors) and Stephen Graham (Indiana Pacers).
