KU shuffles offensive line
Kansas had started the same offensive line until Saturday.
The Jayhawks shuffled Brad Thorson from left guard to right tackle, where he replaced Jeff Spikes. Sal Capra moved from right guard to left guard and Trevor Marrrongelli made his first start of the season at right guard.
“We’ve all played together for 12 weeks, with fall camp and all,” Thorson said. “It wasn’t unusual for us. We’ve done experimenting in practice throughout the year. We got a lot of reps in this week and we felt comfortable when we went out there.”
Thorson said the Jayhawks were motivated by recent criticism of the line play.
“We wanted to respond to everybody’s accusations that we weren’t going to come out and play physical,” Thorson said. “Hopefully, we improved.”
•On an otherwise bleak day, quarterback Todd Reesing became the fifth player in Big 12 history to surpass 10,000 career passing yards.
•Darrell Stuckey tipped his hat to Kansas State running back Daniel Thomas, whose 185 rushing yards were a season best against the Jayhawks. “He’s determined and plays aggressive,” Stuckey said. “You have to be gap sound against him.”
