Behind 185 rushing yards from Daniel Thomas and a solid defensive performance, the Wildcats defeated Kansas 17-10 today at Snyder Family Stadium.

The game seemed to change just before halftime when Grant Gregory hit Lamark Brown for a 31-yard touchdown pass with 20 seconds remaining in the second quarter. The score put K-State ahead 10-7 and swung the momentum in its favor for good.

The Wildcats received the opening kickoff of the second half and scored on their first drive, extending their lead to 17-7. Thomas ran in the score from 5 yards away.

With his big day, Thomas eclipsed the 1,000-yard rushing mark for the season.

From there, the Jayhawks kicked a field goal to pull within 17-10 with 5:20 remaining in the fourth quarter but could get no closer.

Kansas missed two field goals, and quarterback Todd Reesing turned the ball over three times and threw for 241 yards and a touchdown.

K-State held on for the win and improved to 6-4 overall and 4-2 in Big 12 play. Kansas dropped to 5-4 and 2-3.

The Wildcats extended their lead in the Big 12 North standings with the win and control their own destiny over the next two weeks.
