Few people grasp the Kansas City music scene like Chuck Haddix. The author, historian and radio personality has hosted the popular “Fish Fry” program on KCUR since 1985. He’s also the director of UMKC’s Marr Sound Archives, a collection of 250,000 recordings. Haddix discusses and signs his latest book, “Bird: The Life and Music of Charlie Parker,” a biography that incorporates firsthand accounts of those who knew the saxophone legend. 7 p.m., Barnes & Noble, Town Center Plaza, 4751 W. 117th St. barnesandnoble.com.
