Westboro Baptist Church neighbors spread peace with a side of lemonade

Since setting up shop in Topeka in January, Planting Peace, which raises money for causes ranging from rain forest preservation to orphanages, has attempted to ruffle the feathers of its notorious neighbor. They campaign against bullying with the help of a 5-year-old girl.

Royals let early chances slip away in 6-3 loss to Indians

The potential consequences of the Royals’ still-sputtering attack came into harsh relief Wednesday for a second straight night in a 6-3 loss to the Cleveland Indians. If the club’s pitching and defense slips just a bit, as it did again at Progressive Field, then their impressive June surge suddenly resembles their ruinous May swoon.

Sprint shares take a hit after Dish Network doesn’t make bid

Sprint shares fell 4.4 percent, a drop of 32 cents to $7, and one analyst downgraded the stock. Dish failed to meet an 11 p.m. deadline Tuesday to submit its “best and final offer” for Sprint. It blamed the target for putting up barriers to a fresh offer.
