    Tornado watch issued Monday as KC cleans up from Sunday’s storms

    As Kansas Citians clean up after Sunday night’s severe storms, another ominous front is taking aim at the metropolitan area. The National Weather Service issued a tornado watch through 10 p.m. on Monday for Kansas City and much of the surrounding area. Thunderstorms are expected to roll in early Monday evening.

    Royals’ Francoeur says it’s tough not to press as slump deepens

    Veteran outfielder Jeff Francoeur admits it’s tough not to press on those occasions when he now finds himself in the starting lineup. "Yes, absolutely," he said, "but I’ve got to find a way to relax. I’ve just got to go out there and not try to do too much. Once I find it a way to do that, which hopefully will be here soon, I feel I’ll be back on track."

    KU basketball team adds Memphis transfer Tarik Black

    Kansas’ basketball team has added another big body to a burgeoning roster overhaul. Former Memphis forward Tarik Black has signed a grant-in-aid agreement to play basketball at Kansas, the school announced Tuesday.

    Don’t mess with school standards in Kansas

    Many school districts have spent the last two years designing curricula around the Common Core standards, and state assessment tests have been overhauled to reflect what students will be learning. To overturn the efforts now would require millions of dollars to draw up new standards and design new curricula and tests.
